Mr Said, a 50-year-old man diagnosed with adult-onset asthma, is supposed to be
discharged from hospital in 5 days.
As part of his pharmacological asthma management, Mr Said was prescribed a short-acting
bronchodilator and a corticosteroid which he needs to continue using at home.
He has no other underlying medical conditions, he does not smoke or consume alcohol, his
weight is within normal limits, he is single and has no children, but he does have siblings,
and he is surrounded by good friends.
He lives in an apartment which is about 10 km away from the hospital. He does not drive
and he relies on public transport to travel to work or to attend for any other social
commitments. He works in the private sector in an office in the tourism industry.
As Mr Said’s nurse, you are asked to:
1. Explain in detail the education you would deliver to Mr Said on managing asthma at
