Health ethics resolution
Ethical Committee Conflict Resolution With the rising cost of care, the advancements in technology and the individual’s cultural and personal beliefs, health care providers are faced with constant challenges to meet patient needs and provide care that is reflective of the organization’s mission. Hospital Ethics Committees (HEC’s) have become a vital entity with respect to the services it provides to the faculty and staff of the facility as well as the community at large. There are three main functions of the HEC: education, policy review and development, and ethics consultation and case review (Department of History and philosophy of medicine, 2012). Objectives: ? Form a HEC and designate roles and responsibilities to each member of the group. ? Work cooperatively to solve a conflict utilizing an appropriate model. ? Consensually develop a solution to the resolve the conflict that supports ethical policy. Guidelines: 1. Form an ethics committee, in which each member understands their individual role and responsibility. 2. Provide a detailed overview of the conflict and the reason/s why this conflict must be reviewed by the HEC. 3. Select an appropriate conflict resolution model that will be used to guide the discussion. 4. Thoroughly respond to each portion of the selected model. 5. Use empirical evidence to describe the benefits, limitations, and challenges that may have been faced to derive this resolution
